UP.
Holding her hand, he said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means “Little girl, get up!” And the girl, who was twelve years old, immediately stood up and walked around! They were overwhelmed and totally amazed.

There comes a moment in life when everything in you feels… stuck.
Not dead but not fully alive either.
You’re breathing, you’re moving — but something inside you has been laid down too long.
And into that kind of moment, Jesus speaks just two words:
GET UP!
Not tomorrow. Not when you feel ready. Right now.
Get Up From What Tried to Bury You
In Mark 5, there’s a little girl. The people around her already accepted the worst.
They said, “It’s over. Don’t bother the Teacher anymore.”
But Jesus walks in anyway.
קוּמִי (koumi) — “arise,” “stand up,” an imperative of immediate action.
Jesus didn’t use a clinical command. He used a name of belonging — little lamb, rise. Identity and resurrection in the same breath.

See, people will pronounce endings over your life that God never agreed with.
They’ll say your faith is too weak.
Your past is too messy.
Your situation is too far gone.
But Jesus doesn’t take cues from the crowd. He steps into what looks finished… takes her hand… and says, “Get up.”
That means what tried to bury you doesn’t get the final word.
Get Up Even If You Feel Weak
Let’s be real — sometimes it’s not that you don’t want to rise. It’s that you feel like you can’t.
Your energy is low.
Your heart is tired.
Your mind is heavy.
Jesus didn’t ask the girl if she had strength, he gave the command first. Because his word carries the power you don’t have.
So when God says “get up” — he’s not ignoring your weakness, he’s overriding it.
You don’t need to feel strong to obey God. You just need to respond.
Get Up From Comfort That’s Killing Growth
Sometimes the thing holding you down isn’t pain, it’s comfort.
You’ve gotten used to staying where you are. Used to lukewarm faith. Used to half praying, half trusting, half living.
But God didn’t call you to survive — he called you to live. There’s a difference. And comfort will keep you asleep in places God is trying to wake you up from.
Get up means:
- Get up from distraction
- Get up from compromise
- Get up from spiritual laziness
Because there’s more in you than what you’ve been settling for.
Get Up Because There’s Purpose Waiting
That little girl didn’t just get up to prove a miracle — she got up to live her life.
There’s something on the other side of your obedience.
Someone you’re supposed to reach.
Something you’re supposed to build.
A level of faith you haven’t stepped into yet.
And you can’t walk in purpose lying down.
Get up is not just a command — it’s an invitation.
Get Up and Stay Up
Here’s the part people miss — it’s one thing to rise but it’s another thing to remain.
Life will try to knock you back down again.
Old habits.
Old thoughts.
Old fears.
But every time you hear that voice again — not the voice of doubt but the voice of Jesus — you answer it the same way:
I’m getting up again.
Some of you don’t need a new word. You need to respond to the one you already heard.
God is not whispering today. He’s calling clearly —
- Get up from that sin
- Get up from that fear
- Get up from that place you’ve been stuck in
Not because you’re perfect — but because he is present.
Say This Prayer
So Lord, give me the strength to rise where I’ve been lying down.
Speak life into the places in me that feel silent.
Help me respond to your voice without delay.
Today, I choose to get up.
