On the surface it’s a title… A podcast… But in true form it’s a mindset… an understanding… a belief…

Earlier in the year I was faced with a variety of obstacles… being a father, transitioning back into working for myself, quitting bad habits and walking more boldly with God. With that naturally comes even more pressure… normally it would have more of a negative effect, but this time, for whatever reason, it seemed to be charging up my spirit. I was starting to embrace the long-standing relationship I had with God…

I received a call from a friend who was having a hard time and talking like he wanted to end his life… I have received calls like this far more often than I ever wanted… and from him, at that moment, it was surprising… but when I thought about it I realized that for years I commended him for all the things he fought through and always thought he was tough enough to handle it… but we all have moments of weakness, we all have moments where the pressure really weighs in on us… Some respond by drinking or smoking, some call or surround themselves with good energy, some take more drastic measures… But ultimately reaching out to God is the way we should all go…

In the conversation I did what I could to ease the way he was feeling… Knowing him closely, I was able to point out all the obstacles he has faced over the years… all the challenges… and all the times he made it through them all… most times far better than he was before each event… and in that moment I told him: think about that…

As great as Jordan was on the court, he don’t have a record like that… Not Brady, not Curry, not LeBron can say they have an undefeated record like that… Ain’t a coach in any sport can say they have a lifetime undefeated record like that…

Golden State went 73–9… and didn’t win the championship… The Patriots went 16–0… and didn’t win it all…

But for us… with God as our Coach, we never lose… And the championship is already declared… we have a perfect 82 and 0 season with God…

Sometimes the words I say come out before I fully think them and have me somewhat thrown off when I hear them. This was one of those times… Like, I always felt God made a way for me to come out on top, but I never really processed it in the way I did in that conversation… I had to kind of step back and really think about what I had just said… It seemed to have done something for his spirit as well… he thanked me for the conversation and went back to his day… I sat a little longer praying for his situation and really thinking about the conversation…

Sometimes I believe God allows situations to happen so things can come to be that we couldn’t manufacture on our own… this was one of those moments… That moment created, on the surface… a title… later on, a podcast… but really a mindset and a true belief that when we are walking with God there is no losing… Even when we feel we are down in the 4th quarter… the game is still in His hands…
